Title: RSI Communications Intern

Location: USGA Headquarters, Liberty Corner, N.J.

Position Timeframe:  May through August 2017


From the USGA Handicap System to national amateur championships, to modernizing the delivery of the game’s Rules and supporting sustainable golf course management practices, the United States Golf Association promotes the health of a game that inspires, challenges, and rewards like nothing else can.

The USGA’s Research, Science and Innovation (RSI) department is dedicated to advancing the game by helping golf courses to reduce costs and provide a better golfer experience. We are looking for an intern to join our team this summer to produce content that will educate facility managers and help golfers.

Based at the USGA’s headquarters in Liberty Corner, N.J., the intern will write articles and produce other types of content and assist in the planning and execution of support materials of our products. In addition to working closely with the RSI team, the intern will engage with other departments within the USGA as well as facility managers around the country.

This IMPACT Internship will also feature a Professional Development focus where will have an opportunity to participate in Panel Discussions (Leadership & Former Interns), learn more about our broader organization by being exposed to "Day in the Life of" job overviews, participating in community service and social activities, and the opportunity to complete and present a capstone project for Executive and Senior Leaders.


What you can expect:

  • Conceiving and producing content for
  • Interviewing and gathering information from practitioners across the golf industry
  • Developing promotional and support materials for USGA tools and technology
  • Using communication skills to advance research projects and other RSI initiatives


What you bring to the USGA:

  • Pursuing an undergraduate degree
  • General working knowledge of golf
  • Strong writing skills
  • Work experience in media, public relations or other communications field preferred
