Title: IMPACT RSI Data Analyst Intern (Summer)

Help the USGA’s Research, Science and Innovation (RSI) department as we work to bring a new approach to strengthening the foundation of the game. We are a small team that is harnessing the power of data, technology and collaboration to help golf facilities to reduce costs and provide a better experience for all golfers.
We are looking for an intern to join our team this summer to help us collect and analyze data that will help golf courses provide a better experience for golfers and operate more efficiently. The intern will work in the field to collect data at golf courses, in addition to performing statistical analyses and generate reports that will be shared with others in the organization, and the findings ultimately will be distributed across the industry.
The intern also will have the opportunity to learn more about all facets of the USGA and its mission, participate in events with other interns, and work with RSI staff to select and complete a capstone project.
What you can expect:
- Developing data-collection forms and procedures based on project requirements
- Collecting data from local golf facilities during on-site visits
- Analyzing data to discover trends and derive insights at the golf-facility level
- Generating reports on results of data analysis to present to RSI team and USGA leadership
What you bring to the USGA:
- Pursuing an undergraduate degree with a major in mathematics, statistics, and/or a related science field strongly preferred
- General working knowledge of golf
- Strong communication/presentation skills
- Experience with a statistical tool such as R and Python
