From gloves and tees to golf clubs and golf balls, the USGA Equipment Standard Department tests and evaluates thousands of pieces of golf equipment for conformance to the Rules of Golf every year. The USGA Equipment Standards Department’s mission is to maintain the challenge of the game by ensuring that player skill, not equipment technology, continues to be the dominant factor for success in golf.
We believe that reducing the challenge of the game reduces its enjoyment by those who love and play it. In supporting this challenge, our vision is to be the preeminent sports equipment testing and evaluation facility in the world. Reporting to the Assistant Director of Equipment Standards, this intern will improve USGA testing capability by translating testing needs into accurate, efficient, and capable data acquisition and analysis hardware and software. Our team works to rapidly create and test solutions so that only the best information is used in making decisions on new golf equipment, to help ensure the continued challenge and excitement of the game.
This USGA Internship will also feature a Professional Development focus where you'll have an opportunity to participate in Panel Discussions (Leadership & Former Interns), learn more about our broader organization by being exposed to "Day in the Life of" job overviews, complete and present a capstone project and engage in all-intern social events.
