Technical Lead – Golf Systems

The Technical Lead – Golf Systems works across the USGA owning the technology responsible for Golfer Systems.  You work closely with our Business Product Owners, the IT Team and our external partners to guide products from conception through launch and on-going support.  As the Technical leader, you will lead the technology team in the design and development of products and services that deliver an exceptional customer experience.  You have deep application development, project management and resource management expertise and a passion for building customer-centric golf solutions.  You have a bias toward action and can break down complex problems and opportunities into the actions that drive product development at customer expected speed.  As a Technical Lead – Golf Systems, you will be part of shaping and delivering a critical component of the USGA’s Customer Engagement Strategy.

What You Can Expect:

  • Serve as a key member and collaborative leader of the cross-functional IT team that drives our Golf Systems technology strategy to a common architectural platform.  Ensure that a uniform set of enterprise wide application design standards are created and maintained including methodologies and toolsets.
  • Plan, develop, and deliver working software.  Participate in all Project Management activities (planning, retrospectives, daily stand-ups, etc.) and accept completed work.  Oversee code reviews and design reviews.
  • Provide Technical Leadership for all Tier 2 and Tier 3 application support in order to meet desired SLA’s
  • Be a subject matter expert of your technology components, including its architecture, features and functionality, user experience, and connections to other parts of the platform.  Grow your knowledge of our product portfolio and the associated enabling technology.
  • Oversee the work of your assigned technical team members and external vendors.  Assign tasks and responsibilities, monitor progress, and ensure timely and quality work.  Assure that the team is utilizing proper architectural and development standards.  Coach and mentor the technical team members in the architectural and development standards. 

 

 

What You Bring to the USGA:

  • A BA/BS or equivalent experience
  • 5+ Years of Team Management Experience (off-shore team management a plus)
  • 10+ Years of Knowledge of Java, C#, ASP.NET, VB.NET, JavaScript, AJAX, JSON, XSL, XML and CSS required (Microsoft C# and the .NET Framework 2.0 and above)
  • 10+ Years of Knowledge of legacy and current SQL Server is required (Microsoft SQL Server 2000, 2008/R2 and above)
  • Hands-on and Hands-off management experience
  • Knowledge of Active Directory and ASP.NET Web Services are required
  • Solid background of .NET web service / webapi / wcf development
  • Experience with ESB and Queueing technologies
  • Experience with TIBCO Businessworks and/or TIBCO FTL
  • Experience with Workflow and Business rule technologies
  • Detailed knowledge of web services (SOAP, REST) and common web-based data-interchange mechanisms (JSON, XML)
  • Experience with Azure or other cloud technologies
  • Ability to architect, design and develop using cloud principles, AWS or Azure.
  • Ability to diagnose, research and prototype innovative technology in a cloud environment
  • Must have experience working on individual and group projects
  • Proven current leadership for B2B and B2C market facing digital and mobile properties that utilize current leading technology platforms
  • Experience taking web and mobile product ideas from concept through launch
  • Understanding of the technical architecture of web applications, mobile and media products
  • Experience developing user interfaces – ability to create examples through wire frames and mock ups
  • Excellent organization skills; creativity and objective-oriented focus
  • Client service experience either in consulting or another field
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong communication, teamwork and interpersonal skills
  • Current experience working with Microsoft on premise, IaaS, PaaS, SaaS and Hybrid environment projects
  • SDLC Tools Sets and Methodologies including Atlassian Suite and VSO (JIRA, Confluence, Bamboo)
  • Knowledge of source code control tools (Subversion, Stash, Git, Github, Team Foundation Server)
  • Extensive experience using Agile and Application Lifecycle Management including experience with paired programming, continuous integration, test driven development
  • Knowledge of Active Directory and ASP.NET Web Services is required
  • Must be a team leader who understands the importance of teamwork, collaboration and open communication
  • Excellent customer focus skills
  • Background in technology, design and development of enterprise platforms
  • Excellent organization skills; creativity and objective-oriented focus
  • Experience with golf industry technology is not required but would be a bonus
