A WORD ABOUT HANDICAPPING

If a golf club plans on offering its members a USGA Handicap Index™, there are specific requirements established by the USGA. The club must establish a handicap committee and elect a handicap chairman who is able to meet an educational requirement. The club itself must also undergo a license procedure. For further information on handicap education go to www.usga.org , position your cursor over ";Rules and Handicapping."; Follow the drop down menu and select "; Handicapping."; Select "Handicap Education."; For a license application select "; Handicapping"; then "Getting a Handicap Index"; then "The USGA Handicap System Licensing for Clubs"; then "Licensing Program - Enroll On-Line."; Select the Blue Box on the left.

It is recommended that the handicap chairman complete the educational seminar and test before the club applies for a license.
