John H. Foy

Florida Region

Foy is Director of the USGA Green Section's Florida Region. He is responsible for making Turf Advisory Service visits to courses in Florida and the Caribbean Islands. Prior to becoming Director of the Florida Region, Foyserved as an Agronomist for the Southeastern Region for five years. He has made more than 2000 Turf Advisory Service visits to golf courses across the country.
Before joining the USGA, Foy worked for PBI Gordon Corporation establishing and evaluating field studies of new compounds for use in turf, ornamental and forestry markets.
In addition to making Turf Advisory Service visits, he has written many turf related articles for various magazines, makes presentations annually to golf industry groups, and works with the Florida Turfgrass Association and the Florida Golf Course Superintendents Association.
John graduated from the University of Georgia with a Masters of Plant Protection and Pest Management in 1980. He has a B.S. in Agriculture, also from the University of Georgia, where he graduated Cum Laude.
Foy and his wife Shelly live in Hobe Sound, Fla., with their three children Hunter, Elizabeth and Thomas.
