Dr. Jeff Nus joined the USGA as manager of Green Section Research in October, 2000. He is responsible for communicating the results from the USGA Turfgrass and Environmental Research Program to a wide audience of golf course superintendents and golf course officials.

For eight years Dr. Nus has worked for the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America as director of research where he was responsible for administering GCSAA's research programs and serving as senior technical editor for GCSAA's publication, Golf Course Management.

Dr. Nus earned his Bachelor's degree in 1976, his Master's degree in 1979, and his doctorate degree in 1983 from Iowa State University. While pursuing his Ph.D., he was in charge of maintaining ISU's turfgrass research plots under the direction of Dr. Nick Christians. After graduation, Jeff spent 20 months with Washington State University working at the Puyallup research and extension center, and later became Assistant Professor at Kansas State University for six years, where he taught both undergraduate and graduate turf courses and conducted field and laboratory research on turfgrass culture and physiology.

Dr. Nus was the 2000 chairman of the turfgrass division of the Crop Science Society of America.
