James T. Snow

National Director
Green Section

Since 1990, Snow has served as National Director of the USGA's Green Section, the department whose mission is to provide turf as near to the ideal as possible for the game of golf. He is responsible for the Green Section's many activities, including the Turf Advisory Service (TAS), the Turfgrass and Environmental Research Program, the Construction Education Program and other Green Section programs. He also serves as editor of the Green Section Record, a bi-monthly professional magazine for golf course superintendents, course officials and others interested in turfgrass science and golf course management.

Snow joined the Green Section in 1976, and prior to assuming his current role he served as Agronomist (1976-1982) and Northeastern Region Director (1982-1990), conducting Turf Advisory Service visits throughout the northeastern United States and eastern Canada.

He received Bachelor of Science and Masters degrees from Cornell University, and is a native of the Ithaca, N.Y., area. He has been a Boy Scout leader for 12 years, and he and wife Judy are avid gardeners and enjoy sharing activities with children Kevin and Valerie.
