Brian Schwartz

Florida Region

Brian Schwartz will travel in the Florida Region. Brian is currently working on a Ph.D. at the University of Florida studying the improvement of zoysiagrass for resistance/tolerance to sting nematodes and overall turf quality. Dr. Kevin Kenworthy serves as his advisor.

Brian became interested in turfgrass research after developing a passion for the game of golf while competing on his high school golf team. Prior to attending college he was involved in the construction of a local golf course and stayed on following its completion to help out in the pro shop. After graduating from Texas A&M, Brian was employed as a research associate working with the development of transgenic corn.

Upon graduation in 2008, Brian plans to acquire a position in the turfgrass breeding and research field.
