Purpose:
This challenge grant supports the growth of the Boys & Girls Club Golf Program to serve more than 110
participants in 2008. Participants will have the opportunity to learn the game and progress through par and
birdie levels in spring, fall, and summer sessions. USGA funds will be used for instruction and transportation.

Purpose:
This matching grant supports the continued operation of the Sticks for Kids Junior Golf Program.
Approximately 500 kids will participate in numerous golf programs offered in 2008. USGA funds will be used

Purpose:
This matching grant supports the Golf for Christ Youth Development Program, a year-round curriculum
designed for youth ages 6-18. In addition to 25 regular meetings throughout the year, participants have the
opportunity to play for free outside of programming at five local golf courses. USGA funds will be used for

This grant supports a junior golf program that projects to reach over 12,000 participants in 2008. Participants

George Bell Youth Opportunity Fund

This matching grant supports the expansion of the Golf First Program. In 2008, it plans to almost double the
number of participants it serves. All children in the program will receive free course access outside of

Housing Authority of Champaign County

Purpose:
This matching grant supports a junior golf program that reaches a remarkable demographic target; 100% of the

This grant supports the Therapeutic Recreation Golf Program, a program that is designed to help youth realize

New Hope Community Baptist Program

Purpose:
This matching grant supports the start-up of a junior golf program that reaches a remarkable demographic. All
of the participants in the program are African American and come from an annual household income of
$25,000 or less. USGA funds will support course and range access, golf clubs and bags, and transportation.

This three-year grant supports a junior golf program that serves participants from high-risk areas filled with
gangs, violence, and drugs. Approximately 60 kids will participate in the program and receive free course

Purpose:
This matching grant supports 70 participants in the Kidz N' Klubs Golf Academy. The Proviso-Leyden Council
for Community Action administers several programs throughout the year which are targeted at youth who
otherwise may become involved in the gang activity prevalent in the area. USGA funds will support course and

This challenge grant supports a junior golf program that has been operating for seven years and projects to

This grant supports The First Tee of Great River to continue its current programming. Approximately 4,000

This grant supports the transportation needs of 16 individuals with physical or visual impairments to and from
programming. The vast majority of individuals in the program are relative beginners to the game of golf.

Purpose:
This matching grant supports a unique organization that reaches at-risk girls, children and adults with cancer
and physical disabilities, and veterans. The organization will increase its participant reach by 150 individuals in

Purpose:
This grant supports the thirteenth year of operation for the Leisure Times Golf Program for adults with mental
disabilities. The program offers an opportunity for 12 participants to receive instruction and experience the

Hmong Youth Education Services

Purpose:
This matching grant supports a new program that has projected to serve 25 Hmong youth in its first year of the
golf program. All of the participants qualify for Federal Free or Reduced Lunch programs. Participants will
have ten meetings, all taking place at the driving range and on the golf course. USGA funds will be used for
course access and golf clubs and bags.

Saint Paul Junior Golf Program

Purpose:
This matching grant will allow The First Tee of St. Paul to expand its Par, Birdie, Eagle, Recreation, and Deaf
Children programs. Each participant will attend a series of five clinics in a session during the spring, summer,
and fall. USGA funds will be used for instruction, course access, and range access.

Three Rivers Park District
Plymouth, Minn.

Purpose:
This grant will allow the Three Rivers Park District to expand its programming to the local YMCA, Boys & Girls
Club, and Shriners Hospital. It will introduce the game of golf to approximately 3,250 participants through
personalized instruction and golf course access. If participants are unable to pay for the program, they will be
eligible to receive "golferships" which will pay for all or part of a child's cost to be in the program for the entire
year. USGA funds will support scholarships based on need.

Courage Center
Duluth, Minn.

Purpose:
This challenge grant will support the purchase of a single-rider golf car for participants in the Courage St. Croix
golf program. This program serves 20 individuals with disabilities annually and provides a program for both
children and adults. Additionally, it recruits several volunteers to assist one-on-one with participants on the
golf course.

Life Skills FORE Montana Youth, Inc.

Purpose:
This matching grant supports the expansion of The First Tee of Montana to four new affiliate sites. The sites in
Billings, Great Falls, Missoula, and Polson will reach 100 participants each and host a minimum of 12 meetings
for the Par level program. USGA funds will be used for instruction, outside course access, and golf clubs and
bags.

Purpose:
This grant supports the establishment of the Fargo Clubs for Kids golf program. In its first year, 100
participants from economically disadvantaged backgrounds will receive scholarships into the Fargo Park
District junior golf program. Additionally, participants will receive their own set of golf clubs along with
opportunities for outside course and range access. USGA funds will be used for course access, range access,
dome access, and golf clubs and bags.

Learning Through Golf Foundation
Green Bay, Wis.

Purpose:
This two-year grant supports the expansion of the The First Tee of Northeast Wisconsin to reach six new
affiliate courses in addition to their programming in Green Bay. The program will reach approximately 7,500
participants through in-school, after-school, and summer programming. USGA funds will be used for
scholarships to participants who otherwise would not have the opportunity to play the game.

This matching grant supports the expansion of on-course playing opportunities for participants in The First Tee
