The organizations listed as the grantees represent the legal applicant of the grant, which is not always the same as the program name for which the grant was awarded.

Junior Golf Programs

Sylacauga Alliance for Family Enhancement Family Services Center
Sylacauga, Ala.
Awarded: $8,000
Purpose: This matching grant supports after-school and summer programming. SAFE will provide instruction to 187 kids through The First Tee of Pursell Farms programming. USGA funds will be used for golf clubs and bags, and transportation.

Huntsville Metropolitan Youth Golf Foundation
Huntsville, Ala.
Awarded: $10,000
Purpose: This matching grant will support year-round Saturday programming. The organization will reach 210 kids through in-school, after-school, and Saturday programming in the Huntsville area. USGA funding will be used for instruction, course access, range access, and equipment.

Tennessee Valley Jazz Society
Huntsville, Ala.
Awarded: $10,000
Purpose: This matching grant supports The First Tee of Huntsville's after-school and summer golf program. The program will serve approximately 135 youths during the 8 months of programming. USGA funds will be used for instruction, course and range access, and transportation.

The First Tee of Greater Alabama
Bessemer, Ala.
Awarded: $16,500
Purpose: This grant supports The First Tee of Greater Birmingham junior golf program, which provides year-round instruction at two facilities in the Birmingham, AL community. The organization will serve nearly 370 enrolled participants at the Highland Park and Eagle Point locations. All programming will be free of charge. USGA funds will be used for PGA/LPGA instruction, course access, and range access.

Junior Golf Programs

The First Tee of Jacksonville, Inc.
Jacksonville, Fla.
Awarded: $20,000
Purpose: This grant supports after-school and summer programming for various social service agencies and other individuals in the Jacksonville community. Participants will have unlimited free access at The First Tee of Jacksonville outside of programming throughout the grant period. USGA funding will provide course access, equipment, PGA Professional instruction and other instruction.

TEE-LO Golf Inc.
Orlando, Fla.
Awarded: $22,000
Purpose: This two-year matching grant supports a program that reaches economically disadvantaged participants from the Tangelo Park community. The program will include tutoring, mentoring, and golf. Approximately 125 participants will be reached. USGA funds will be used for instruction, golf course access, range access, and golf clubs and bags.

YMCA of West Central Florida
Lakeland, Fla.
Awarded: $40,000
Purpose: This grant supports the expansion of junior golf programming at The First Tee of Lakeland. The organization will conduct year-round golf programs for home-schooled participants, the housing authority, Boys and Girls Club, Girl Scouts, individuals with disabilities and others. Approximately 750 youths will be reached. USGA funds will be used for instruction.

City of St. Petersburg
St. Petersburg, Fla.
Awarded: $55,000
Purpose: This grant supports junior golf programming at the The First Tee of St. Petersburg. Using USGA funds, the organization will conduct programming at Academy Prep, a tuition-free, charter school for economically disadvantaged youth, continue its program for participants throughout the city, and expand its golf program for individuals with disabilities. Approximately 670 youths will be reached. USGA funds will be used for instruction, golf course access, driving range access, and golf clubs and bags.

Program for People w/Disabilities

Florida Adaptive Golf, Inc.
Sarasota, Fla.
Awarded: $50,000
Purpose: This matching grant will expose 700 individuals with disabilities and juniors to the game of golf through ten clinics and after-school learning opportunities. The program will operate at nine courses along the western Florida coast, showing the collaboration of instructors and communities in bringing the game to those who would not otherwise have the opportunity to play. USGA funds will be used for equipment, instruction, and single-rider adaptive golf cars.

School-Operated Programs

Gulf Coast Academy of Science and Technology
Spring Hill, Fla.
Awarded: $2,600
Purpose: This matching grant supports the "Tee Tools for Middle School" junior golf program for 119 middle schools students. All students will receive instruction and course access opportunities during programming that will be coupled with reading biographies of golfers during history class, lessons about slope and angles during math class, the study of trajectory and turfgrass research during science class, and video analysis of the kids' swings during technology classes. USGA funds will support instruction, transportation, and equipment.

Junior Golf Programs

Decatur County of Georgia
Bainbridge, Ga.
Awarded: $5,550
Purpose: This matching grant supports a program serving 160 youths from the Friendship House of Jesus. Each participant will have three instructional opportunities and unlimited free course and range access outside of programming. USGA funds will be used for instruction, equipment, and transportation.

City of College Park
College Park, Ga.
Awarded: $45,000
Purpose: This grant supports The Academy at College Park junior golf program through the City of College Park Parks and Recreation Department. This program will serve approximately 645 participants through after-school, weekend, summer, individual, home-school, and in-school programming and will utilize the newly built junior golf learning center at College Park Golf Course. USGA funds will be used for PGA/LPGA instruction, course access, range access, and clubs and bags.

Purpose: This grant supports general programming for the organization. The program projects to reach approximately 750 participants through after-school, summer, and Saturday instructional sessions, which will include The First Tee life skills certification. USGA funds will be used for course and range access.

Boys & Girls Club of Rome, Inc.

Purpose: This challenge grant supports the start-up of a junior golf program for economically disadvantaged youth in Georgia. The program will provide 15 instructional clinics and 12 course access opportunities to 24 participants from April 2007 through September 2007. USGA funds will provide instruction, course and range access, equipment, and transportation.

Purpose: This grant supports a junior golf program that operates year-round for 85 participants. The majority of participants come from economically disadvantaged families. USGA funds will be used for instruction, course access, range access, equipment, and transportation.

Purpose: This grant supports Youth Golf and Life Skills programming for the Women in Golf Foundation that will serve 60 participants. Programming will include year-round instruction and access through Summer Camps, Advanced Playing Leagues, and Saturday Golf Clinics. USGA funds will be used for PGA/LPGA instruction, course access, range access, and the purchase of golf clubs and bags.

Friends of John A. White Park, Inc.
Atlanta, Ga.
Awarded: $35,000
Purpose: This grant supports The First Tee of Atlanta junior golf program serving 750 participants throughout the Atlanta community. Programming will include Saturday classes, Summer camps, After-School lessons, and a Spring Break Clinic in addition to outreach efforts with the Boys and Girls Club, ElConnally Elementary School, Southwest YMCA, and the 100 Black Men of Atlanta. All participants will have discounted access at the Friends of John A. White Park Golf Course, and can participate in the program free of charge. USGA funds will be used for instruction, course access, and range access.

Walton Foundation
Augusta, Ga.
Awarded: $9,660
Purpose: This matching grant supports a golf program for individuals with disabilities. The program will offer eight free clinics and provide course access opportunities to approximately 300 individuals with disabilities. USGA funds will be used for course access, equipment, and two adaptive golf cars.

Purpose: This grant supports the expansion of junior programming at The First Tee of Wilmington. The organization will reach approximately 1,000 participants, including economically disadvantaged participants from the inner city. USGA funds will be used for instruction, access, golf clubs and bags, and transportation.

Purpose: This grant supports the expansion of programming at The First Tee of Lake Norman Region. The program will serve 750 youths through The First Tee programming and a blind golfers clinic. USGA funds will be used for equipment.

The Carol S. Petrea Youth Golf Foundation Inc.

Awarded: $22,500
Purpose: This grant supports The First Tee of Brunswick County junior golf program in serving 500 participants through enrolled programming and an additional 2,000 kids through in-school target programming. This organization will provide year-round programming through after-school programs, Saturday clinics, Summer Activities, and the Summer Academy. Nearly 200 local volunteers contribute around the county. USGA funds will be used for PGA/LPGA instruction, golf clubs and bags, and fuel to transport the kids.

Purpose: This grant supports The First Tee of Hampton Roads YMCA junior golf program, which serves 576 enrolled participants at the Eastern Shore facility.
