The organizations listed as the grantees represent the legal applicant of the grant, which is not always the same as the program name for which the grant was awarded.

Caddie/Occupational Programs

The Daniel Murphy Scholarship Foundation
Chicago, Ill.
Awarded: $44,000
Purpose: This three-year grant supports the expansion of the Daniel Murphy Scholarship Foundation Caddie Program. Participants from inner-city Chicago are housed for the summer in local college dormitories and maintain jobs as caddies for various golf clubs throughout the area. USGA funds will support meals and housing for the participants.

Junior Golf Programs

Dreams for Kids Inc.
Chicago, Ill.
Awarded: $12,370
Purpose: This matching grant supports the start of the Dreams for Kids All-Inclusive Golf Program. Approximately 170 youths from the inner-city Chicago area will be reached. USGA funds will support instruction, course access, range access, golf clubs and bags, and transportation.

City of Rock Island Parks and Recreation Department
Rock Island, Ill.
Awarded: $3,840
Purpose: This grant supports the Sticks for Kids golf program, which provides golf instruction to hundreds of kids each year. Through a variety of programs, as well as access to both a regulation and an executive course, this organization serves kids of all skill levels. USGA funds will be used for golf course access, driving range access, and transportation.

New Hope Community Service Center
Chicago, Ill.
Awarded: $17,500
Purpose: This matching grant supports an urban youth program located on the south side of Chicago. Year-round programming is available for all participants, with summer access located at either Cog Hill Golf Course or Jackson Park Golf Course. USGA funds will be used for professional instruction and transportation.

George Bell Youth Opportunity Fund
Libertyville, Ill.
Awarded: $3,350
Purpose: This matching grant supports the expansion of the George Bell Youth Opportunity Fund Golf First Program. Approximately 45 youths will be reached at three different sites in 2007. After completion of the program, participants will have unlimited access to to Countryside Golf Course. USGA funds will be used for instruction, course access, and golf clubs and bags.

First Tee of the City of Aurora
Aurora, Ill.
Awarded: $22,500
Purpose: This grant supports The First Tee of Aurora, a program that provides instruction and course access daily to youth at Phillips Park Golf Course. Approximately 700 youths will be reached in a series of five-day clinics during its Summer Golf Program. Upon completion of the clinic, each participant will receive free course and range access for the remainder of the year at five local courses in Aurora. USGA funds will be used for instruction, course access, range access, and golf clubs and bags.

Housing Authority of Champaign County
Champaign, Ill.
Awarded: $4,200
Purpose: This grant will provide the seed money for the third year of the Housing Authority of Champaign County's Junior Golf Academy. Approximately 25 youths drawn from the Housing Authority residents will take part in the month-long program. Specifically, USGA funds will support the costs of professional instruction, course access, range access, and transportation.

Blue and White Educational Foundation, Inc.
Chicago, Ill.
Awarded: $1,700
Purpose: This challenge grant supports the start-up of the golf component for the Making Eagles Youth Leadership Program. One hundred percent of participants are minorities and come from households with an annual income under $50,000. USGA funds will be used for instruction, course and range access, golf clubs and bags, and fuel reimbursement.

Patriots' Gateway Community Center
Rockford, Ill.
Awarded: $15,000
Purpose: This grant supports the expansion of The First Tee of Greater Rockford. Approximately 515 youths from housing authorities, the Salvation Army, and other community centers will take part in TARGET, Par, and Birdie level programs. USGA funds will be used for instruction, course access, and transportation.

Purpose: This matching grant supports the Praise, Glory, & Adoration Golf Team located on the south side of Chicago, Ill. Participants will be exposed to the game throughout the summer with professional instruction and course and range access. All participants are beginners who come from economically disadvantaged backgrounds. USGA funds will be used for instruction, course and range access, golf clubs and bags, and transportation.

Dupage A.M.E Church

Purpose: This matching grant supports the Golf for Christ Youth Development Program, a year-round curriculum designed for youth ages 6-18. Participants have the opportunity to play for free outside of programming at three local golf courses: Cantigny Youth Links, Country Lake Golf Course, and Springbrook Golf Course. USGA funds will be used for instruction, course and range access, and golf clubs and bags.

Rockford Park District
Rockford, Ill.
Awarded: $15,000
Purpose: This three-year grant supports the expansion of the Rockford Park District golf program to include the Tiger Cub Club, Youth Specialty Clinics, and a golf camp. All programming will take place at Ingersoll Learning Links, which was constructed with USGA support in 2003. USGA funds will support instruction, course access, and range access.

Boys & Girls Club of Springfield
Springfield, Ill.
Awarded: $15,000
Purpose: This challenge grant supports the establishment of the Boys & Girls Club Golf Program. Approximately 84 participants will have the opportunity to learn the game and progress through par and birdie levels in its first year of operation. USGA funds will be used for instruction, course access, range access, clubs & bags, and transportation.

Proviso-Leyden Council for Community Action, Inc.
Maywood, Ill.
Awarded: $13,500
Purpose: This grant supports the growth of the Kidz N' Klubs Golf Academy. The Proviso-Leyden Council for Community Action administers several programs throughout the year which are targeted at youth who otherwise may become involved in the gang activity prevalent in the area. The Kidz N' Klubs Golf Academy will serve approximately 75 youth throughout the year in the summer, fall, and winter programs. USGA funds will support course and range access, golf clubs and bags, and transportation.

Northeastern Illinois Jr. Golf Alliance

Purpose: This matching grant supports the expansion of The First Tee of Northeastern Illinois at Foss Park Golf Course. Throughout the summer, over 200 youths will become certified in Pre-Par, Par, Birdie, and Eagle level programming. USGA funds will support instruction costs.

Purpose: This two-year matching grant supports the Therapeutic Recreation Golf Program, a program that is designed to help youth realize their ability to utilize community leisure resources. One hundred percent of participants are from households with an annual income under $25,000. USGA funds will support instruction, course and range access, and drivers' fees.

Program for People w/Disabilities

Maryville Academy
Des Plaines, Ill.
Awarded: $83,000
Purpose: This two-year matching grant supports a program that teaches youth many different aspects of the game, including club-making, caddying, and playing. One hundred percent of participants in the program come from households with an annual income of less than $25,000. USGA funds will support instruction, course access, range access, golf clubs and bags, fuel, and drivers' fees.

Revelation Golf, Inc.
Elk Grove, Ill.
Awarded: $35,000
Purpose: This matching grant supports the expansion of clinics throughout the suburban-Chicago area for individuals with disabilities. Participants will include economically disadvantaged girls, children with cancer or a physical disability, and adults with cancer or a physical disability. Approximately 300 participants will take part in at least one clinic throughout the year. USGA funds will be used for instruction, course and range access, golf clubs and bags, and a single-rider golf car.

Golf Facilities

The First Tee of the Quad Cities
Davenport, Iowa
Awarded: $25,000
Purpose: This grant is to support the construction of a new three-hole short course for The First Tee of the Quad Cities in Davenport, Iowa. Due to the large demand for the already existing and previously USGA-supported Red Hawk Golf Course, The First Tee will build a new facility that will create approximately 8,000 additional rounds. In addition, the new facility will allow The First Tee to expand its programming and offer new sessions to over 1,700 youths. USGA funds will support the building of greens and tees.

Program for People w/Disabilities

Link Associates
Des Moines, Iowa
Awarded: $2,000
Purpose: This grant supports the Leisure Times Golf program, a 10-week experience for individuals with disabilities designed to foster an independent and healthy lifestyle among its participants. Programming will be held at Willow Creek Golf Course; participants can access this course at a cost of $1 per round when accompanied by a player who is paying full price, which is $14. USGA funds will be used to support instruction, course access, golf clubs and bags, and transportation.

Caddie/Occupational Programs

Minnesota Minority Junior Golf Association
Minneapolis, Minn.
Awarded: $20,000
Purpose: This grant supports a caddie program for minorities in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Ninety youths in northern Minneapolis will receive a stipend for each loop completed at a local private golf course and have the opportunity to earn scholarships for college. USGA funds will be used for instruction, caddie stipends, and range access.

Junior Golf Programs

Three Rivers Park District
Plymouth, Minn.
Awarded: $27,500
Purpose: This grant will allow the Three Rivers Park District to expand its programming to two new facilities in West Minneapolis in 2007. It will introduce the game of golf to approximately 4,000 participants through personalized instruction, and golf course access. If participants are unable to pay for the program, they will be eligible to receive "golferships" which will pay for all or part of a child's cost to be in the program for the entire year. USGA funds will support instruction, course access, range access, golf clubs and bags, and transportation.

Saint Paul Junior Golf Program
Shakopee, Minn.
Awarded: $25,000
Purpose: This grant will allow The First Tee of Saint Paul to expand its Par, Birdie, Eagle, Recreation, and Deaf Children programs. In addition to these programs, The First Tee of Saint Paul will introduce a new Academy program that reaches approximately 100 participants currently on the Federal Free or Reduced Lunch program. USGA funds will be used for instruction, interpreters, course access, and range access.

Fairway Foundation
Minneapolis, Minn.
Awarded: $7,500
Purpose: This grant supports the Fairway Foundation's Sponsor a Future Tiger junior golf program. The Fairway Foundation's mission is to bring the game of golf to urban youth and introduce the life skills and values inherent in the game. Approximately 200 youths from economically disadvantaged backgrounds will be introduced to the game in 2007. USGA funds will support golf course access, driving range access, and transportation for this summer program.

Eagle Mount Billings
Billings, Mont.
Awarded: $5,120
Purpose: This matching grant supports the purchase of new adaptive equipment for the Eagle Mount Billings golf program. Approximately 44 individuals with disabilities will be reached, and will use the equipment free of charge during programming and for outside course access. Specifically, USGA funds will support the purchase of a single-rider adaptive golf car and golf clubs and bags.

YMCA of Rapid City
Rapid City, S.D.
Awarded: $8,000
Purpose: This grant will support seed money for the third year of programming for The First Tee of Rapid City. This program is located in western South Dakota and will reach approximately 3,600 participants in its Target, Par, and Birdie level programs. Of its total participants, approximately 70% will come from households with annual incomes of $50,000 or less. USGA funds will support instruction, course access, range access, and transportation.

Madison Junior Golf Foundation, Inc.
Madison, Wis.

Purpose: This grant supports a The First Tee program in Madison, Wisconsin. Approximately 1,100 youths will be introduced to the game through public lessons, community center programs, LPGA/USGA Girls Golf Program, and drop-in clinics. USGA funds will be used for instruction, course access, and range access.

Purpose: This grant supports the expansion of the Learning Through Golf Foundation, the umbrella organization for The First Tee of Green Bay. The Learning Through Golf Foundation will offer in-school, after-school, and summer programming for approximately 7,500 participants throughout the community. USGA funds will be used for instruction.

Purpose: This grant will introduce approximately 50 youths from households with incomes of $50,000 or less to the game of golf through the Madison Metro Youth Golf Initiative free of charge. This organization will provide instruction for youth from local social service organizations throughout Madison, Wisconsin. Purpose: This grant supports the Manitowoc County Youth Golf Program.
