Pittsburgh Youth Golf Foundation

Purpose: This grant award will help fund instruction and transportation in the Pittsburgh Youth Golf Foundation's expansion
into the Options Center. This is a school for long term behaviorally and academically challenged students, grades 6
through 8. The PYGF also offers programs in other public schools in disadvantaged parts of Pittsburgh. This is
PYGF's third USGA grant, and they reached over 400 youths in 2001.

Knox Area Junior Golf Association
Knoxville, Tenn.
Awarded: $50,000
Purpose: The KAJGA was awarded $50,000 to help support the construction of 20 greens at the new Wee Course at Williams Creek,
an 18 hole, par 3 facility. The course will provide First Tee programming to urban youth in the downtown Knoxville
area and will be the third site operated by the KAJGA. The KAJGA has never charged youth to participate in its junior
golf programs, and hopes to reach over 1,000 area youths in the next two years.

Mid-South Junior Golf Association
Memphis, Tenn.
Awarded: $75,000
Purpose: This grant will help fund irrigation and turf preparation costs for the rejuvenation of a nine-hole golf course on an
old army depot site. The MSJGA provides various programs to at-risk youth in the Memphis area. This grant will help
to repair the golf course that will become a programming home for the MSJGA. The organization hopes to reach 400
youths in the coming year at this new facility.

This is the MSJGA's third USGA grant since their 1991 inception. Through its programming, the MSJGA reached

Tennessee Middle School Golf Association

Purpose: The TMSGA was awarded $19,000 in support of instruction and equipment costs specifically associated with including
underprivileged and economically disadvantaged youth in the TMSGA's mission to educate students about the game
through its golf leagues. The TMSGA began in 1998 and acts as the governing body for middle school golf in the state
of Tennessee. 830 students participated in these golf programs last year.
