“ Little did I know that the Fellowship would shape my career. I went in with a degree in English, while also knowing I loved golf and that I wanted to give back to the game. Through the process I was exposed to so many areas of professional development - one of which, the world of investing, piqued my interest so much that I pursued it after leaving the Fellowship. I'm pretty grateful. I have such fond memories of the Fellowship on many different levels. There is obviously the tremendous experience of learning from leaders within the USGA Staff and Volunteer ranks. But there is also a strong bond between the Fellows that made the job and the lifestyle so compelling. Skills and lessons developed through the Fellowship have stayed with me every step of my career since I left Colorado Springs.”

" I truly believe in the USGA mission to provide affordable access to the game of golf and the game's many values. The USGA should be credited with having created a unique work environment for recent college grads to discover skills and growth opportunities through the experiences in grant work, Fellowship projects and the professional development curriculum --- offerings that seem unmatched and unparalleled in nearly any industry. I have had the privilege to work with each and every Fellow who has been with the program since its inception in 1997. "Although I miss the USGA dearly, I love living in the mountains and being able to spend more time with my husband. It is hard to put into words the impact the USGA Fellowship in Leadership and Service had on me. The opportunity to be surrounded by bright and motivated individuals all working toward impacting the lives of so many was a major highlight in my life, not to mention the various skills the Fellowship helped me develop through all the responsibility given right out of college. From the many projects and grants to the site visits and speaking opportunities, I truly did develop personally and professionally. Then to be given the opportunity to stay on with the USGA in a staff role after the Fellowship was a dream come true. "The Fellowship gave me an opportunity to pursue what I love. You can't ask for more than that. I appreciated the responsibilities placed on you through the Fellowship, the people you meet in the USGA and grant programs, places you travel, and experience you gain as a first job out of college. It helped me for everything that came after." "Looking back, what means the most to me from my Fellowship experience is the leadership and service component. It isn't just in the title. The leadership seminars may have taught me the definition of what leadership is supposed to be, but what I really learned is that you can't become a leader in a seminar. You have to practice it everyday. The focus on service and philanthropy of the Fellowship helped me to realize the importance of giving back. It might be just golf, but it can mean the world to somebody. You don't always have a chance to participate in something that can mean so much to others. "

“The Fellowship was an amazing opportunity that gave me the chance to grow both personally and professionally after earning my undergraduate degree. Not only does the Fellowship combine real-world experience with education and leadership development that can be applied to any career after a Fellow's tenure, but it gives each and every Fellow the unique opportunity to hone skills he or she wishes to refine. Looking back on my time with the USGA, I continue to be grateful for the commitment and time that was given to me by USGA staff and the Colorado Springs' community. In addition, the friendships made and the sense of family that developed while in Colorado is just as valuable as the work experience itself. The bottom line is that the USGA has each Fellow's best interest in mind, which translates to a genuine care and concern for an individual's development, which very few post-graduate jobs offer. I will be forever indebted for what the USGA provided me during my time with the Foundation, and continue to do my best to give back to the Fellowship, after all it has given to me.”
