Selection Criteria


In order for an applicant to be considered for a USGA Scholarship to attend the 2008 United States Scholar-Athlete Games, a candidate must meet the criteria listed below:

  • 15 to 19 years old (as of July 1, 2008).
  • Have completed grade level 9, 10, 11 or 12.
  • Economically would otherwise not be able to participate.
  • An “Honor Roll” student OR maintains a strong G.P.A. and has shown commitment in the classroom.
  • A “Distinguished” golfer (plays or could play at a varsity level).
  • A proven ability to flourish in an event of this size and magnitude.
  • Demonstrative leadership qualities.
  • Active involvement in community activities/service.
