William W. Gist IV
USGA Vice President
William W. “Skip” Gist IV, of Omaha, Neb., is serving his fifth year as a member of the USGA Executive Committee and first as vice president.
Gist received a bachelor’s degree in chemistry from the University of Nebraska and a D.D.S. from the University of Nebraska Dental College. He has been in private practice of dentistry since 1980.
Gist served on the board of directors for the Nebraska Golf Association from 1996-2006, including a term as president from 2002-2004. He is currently a member of the NGA’s Past President’s Committee. Gist has served the USGA as a member of the U.S. Junior Amateur Championship Committee since 2001 and has served as a Rules official at numerous USGA championships, as well as the Big 12 Championship and the NCAA Men’s Regional Championship.
An eight-time club champion, Gist won the 2000 Nebraska Mid-Amateur Championship.
In 2015, Gist will chair the Amateur Status, International Team Selection and Men's State Team Committees, and will also serve on the Championship, Joint Rules of Golf and Rules of Golf Committees.
