Sarah Hirshland
Senior Managing Director, Business Affairs
Sarah Hirshland joined the United States Golf Association as the senior managing director of Business Affairs in September 2011. She came to the USGA from the Wasserman Media Group in Los Angeles, Calif., where she was senior vice president in charge of strategic business development. She also worked in Wasserman’s consulting division and led the development of sponsorship strategies for clients such as American Express, Nationwide, Nokia, Wachovia and Scotts.
Prior to that appointment, Hirshland worked for OnSport, a Raleigh, N.C.-based sports and entertainment consulting firm. One of OnSport’s first employees, she led the negotiations for Nationwide’s multi-year partnerships with NASCAR and ESPN, which resulted in the NASCAR Nationwide Series. She was also involved when Wachovia and the PGA Tour launched the Wachovia (now Wells Fargo) Championship in 2002.
Hirshland was one of the founding employees of Total Sports in Raleigh, N.C., an online sports news and technology company, where she was general manager of collegiate sports business, helping to form partnerships with more than 100 universities, conference and the NCAA.
Hirshland is a graduate of Duke University with a degree in biology.
