G. Thomas Hough, of Atlanta, Ga., is in his second year as a member of the USGA Executive Committee.

Hough is Retired Americas Vice Chair of Assurance Services for Ernst & Young LLP. He joined the firm in 1978 and became a partner in 1987. He has served as regional managing partner in the Pittsburgh and Atlanta offices and vice chair of human resources based in New York. Hough retired in 2014 after being a member of Ernst & Young's Americas Executive Board for 17 years.

Hough has served as co-general chairman of the U.S. Amateur Championship and the PGA Championship. Additionally, he has served numerous civic organizations, including the Rotary Club, and is a past board member of the Metro Atlanta Chamber of Commerce and a trustee of the Woodruff Arts Center.

Hough earned his bachelor's degree (summa cum laude, 1977) and master's degree (with honors, 1978) in accounting from the University of Alabama, where he was a member of the varsity golf team. He is a current member of the university's President's Cabinet, and also serves on the board of visitors of Wake Forest University.

In 2015. Hough will chair the Audit and Senior Amateur Committees, and will also serve on the Championship, Compensation and Finance Committees.

The partnership has also produced educational materials such as the Science of Golf video series and a nationally-distributed newspaper insert which are provided to teachers as tools to enhance existing curriculum in schools. These lessons teach the science behind the USGA’s equipment testing, handicapping, and agronomy efforts.
