Christie Austin
USGA Treasurer
Christie Austin, of Cherry Hills Village, Colo., is in her sixth year as a member of the USGA Executive Committee and first as treasurer.
Austin is retired from Marsico Capital Management, LLC, a Denver-based asset management firm. Austin, a CPA, served as MCM’s chief financial officer from its formation in 1997 until 2003 and executive vice president from 2003 to January 2007. Prior to 1997, she helped found Englewood Mortgage Company in 1987 with her husband, Bob. They have two children, Michael and Julie. She is a graduate of the University of Colorado.
In addition to her professional activities, she has served on the board of directors for the Sports Women of Colorado and Girls, Inc., of Denver, and currently is a member of the boards of The First Tee, the Colorado Women’s Golf Association and the Colorado Sports Hall of Fame.
She has been involved in the three most recent USGA championships held at Cherry Hills Country Club in Cherry Hills Village, where Austin is a member. She served as vice chairman of the 2005 U.S. Women’s Open, and was registration chairman for the 1993 U.S. Senior Open. In 2012, she served as chairman of the registration committee for the 2012 U.S. Amateur at Cherry Hills.
Austin has qualified for nine U.S. Women’s Mid-Amateur Championships and one USGA Senior Women’s Amateur Championship, with her most recent appearances coming in 2010 at both championships. She has won 14 club championships and 15 various state championships in Colorado and Arizona, and most recently won the 2010 Women’s Trans National Golf Association Four-Ball Championship in San Antonio, Texas.
Austin chairs the Audit and Rules of Golf committees and also serves on the Amateur Public Links, Championship, Compensation, Finance, Management and Joint Rules of Golf committees.
