Darin Bevard is the
director of Championship Agronomy for the USGA Green Section and is located in
Glen Mills, Pennsylvania. He is the lead agronomist for the United States Open,
Women’s Open, Senior Open, Amateur, Women’s Amateur and also oversees the other
amateur championships of the USGA. Bevard conducts site visits for the Course
Consulting Service in the northeast region. Prior to his current role, he was a
regional agronomist in the mid-Atlantic region for 17 years.
Before joining the staff, Bevard worked on several golf
courses in the heart of the transition zone in Maryland. He was assistant
superintendent at Talbot Country Club in Easton, Maryland before joining the
Green Section staff in 1997. Bevard graduated from Penn State University,
earning his Bachelor and Master of Science Degrees in Agronomy, with emphasis
on Turfgrass Science.
