Colton Jones has
been selected as in intern to travel with the USGA agronomists in the Southeast
Region. He is a junior majoring in
agriculture with a concentration in plant and soil sciences, and a minor in
business administration at the University of Tennessee at Martin. Dr. Wes
Totten serves as his advisor.
Colton’s interest in turfgrass management began after he
started his own lawn care business as a middle school student in Savannah, TN.
His business continued to grow and, as he graduated high school, he knew his
passion was to work outside and with turfgrass. Colton also has worked as a
grounds crew volunteer for the 2011 and 2012 Player’s Championships held at TPC
Sawgrass in Ponte Vedra Beach, FL, and during the summer of 2012, he completed
an internship at Callawassie Island Golf Course in Okatie, SC.
In addition to his USGA internship this summer, Colton will intern
at Charlotte Country Club in Charlotte, NC.
His ultimate career goal is to one day become a golf course
