Constructed on the venue used for the cross country and biathlon competitions for the 2002 Winter Olympic Games, Soldier Hollow Golf Course in Midway, Utah is a 36-hole facility featuring the Gold and Silver courses designed by Gene Bates. The course is located approximately 50 miles from downtown Salt Lake City in the Wasatch Mountain State Park. The course also offers breathtaking views of the Heber Valley and majestic Mount Timpanogos.

The 2012 U.S. Amateur Public Links will be the first-ever USGA championship contested in Utah. Seventeen holes from the Gold Course (all but hole No. 2) and one from the Silver Course (No. 11) will be utilized for the competition. Bates incorporated 150 bunkers into his design, with white silica sand brought in from nearby Idaho.

PAR AND YARDAGE: The Gold Course at Soldier Hollow will be set up at 7,717 yards, the longest course in U.S. Amateur Public Links history, and will play to a par of 36-35—71. One hole from the Silver Course will be used for the championship. (Note: Yardages subject to change) 

ARCHITECT: The Gold Course atSoldier Hollow was designed by Gene Bates and opened in 2004.             

WHO CAN ENTER: The championship is open to amateur golfers who since Jan. 1 of the current year have been bona fide public course players and who hold a USGA Handicap Index not exceeding 4.4.

ENTRIES: Entries open the second week of March, 2012. The USGA accepted 2,822 entries for the 2011 APL. The record of 6,300 was set in 1998.
