OMAHA, Neb. – Hal Sutton withdrew from the 2013 U.S. Senior Open on Tuesday due to a hip injury.
Sutton, the 1980 U.S. Amateur champion and a member of the Champions Tour’s all-time money list, was fully exempt and will be replaced in the field by David Ladd, of Palm Beach Gardens, Fla., the first alternate from the St. Augustine, Fla., sectional qualifying site.
Ladd, who will play in his first U.S. Senior Open, shot 73 at Marsh Creek Country Club on June 24. He claimed the first alternate spot in a playoff.
Ladd will play with Corey Pavin and Steve Elkington for the first two rounds. The group will start from the first tee on Thursday at 1:48 p.m. CDT.
