Mahlberg Disqualified

Barry Mahlberg was disqualified from the 2012 U.S. Senior Open Championship on Thursday. He received a disqualification penalty for violating Rule 14-3.

While waiting in the fairway of the second hole at Indianwood Golf and Country Club, Mahlberg removed a wooden dowel from his golf bag and simulated a practice swing(s). Use of a wooden dowel in this manner is considered use of unusual equipment during a stipulated round. This is prohibited under Rule 14-3.

Mahlberg signed for a first-round score of 78.
