Museum Sales Clerk/Receptionist

9:30 - 5:30; Thursday & Friday

Museum and Gift Shop Coordinator

Location:

Far Hills, NJ

Position Summary:

Museum and Gift Shop selling merchandise, greeting and assisting visitors.


Responsibilities

 
  • Welcome visitors/customers. Answer Museum phone and any general Museum related inquiries. Prepare and review visitor packet information for those touring the Museum.
  • Assist customers with purchase selections and finalize sales. Assist in boxing/bagging customer purchases as necessary.
  • Maintain organized and orderly Gift Shop/Receptionist area. Track and restock inventory shelves as needed. Assist in labeling merchandise as it comes in when necessary.
  • Reconcile cash and credit card sales at beginning and end of day (or shift).
  • Assemble visitors daily for Test Center Tour, distribute brochures and maps and provide a brief description of the tour. Contact Test Center daily with anticipated tour head count. (Except weekends when Test Center is closed.)
  • From April through December, responsible for Pynes Putting Course: visitor reservations and tee times. Keep track of equipment and assist with club and ball choice.

  • All levels of USGA staff and the general public


Knowledge, Education, Skills & Abilities

  • Retail sales experience preferred. Familiar with computerized sales system and bar coding. Good communication and interpersonal skills as well as good organizational skills. Articulate, punctual and reliable. Flexibility a must relating to work schedule.
